Maltby Town Councillor reports false information about Maltby Fire Station

Image

Those of us who follow the antics, cock ups and general hypocrisy of Maltby Town Council know only too well that what is reported is not necessarily true and what’s not reported is more likely to be a better account of  what’s really happening.

Unfortunately many Maltby residents now think  “why bother when they’ll do what they want anyway” and over time certain councillors have come to believe in their own self importance and do and say what they want, to the detriment of the people of the town.

So it was not entirely a surprise to read this in the District News section of yesterday’s Advertiser –

“Maltby Town Council : At the meeting October 18, the council … … …

Cllr S Maxwell told the meeting that Maltby Fire Station was closing, the station is not being used and appliances are coming from Rotherham to cover Maltby incidents.”

Watch Manager Barr of Maltby Fire Station has told me this morning that this is the first he has heard about it and if it was the case then the details would certainly not have passed him by. He is not too pleased that a councillor says something like this without consulting those concerned and the statement is incorrect.

Now, maybe the Advertiser made a mistake.

Maybe MTC  Cllr Steve Johnson who writes the district news for the Advertiser made a mistake.

Maybe the minutes of the meeting on 18th were not accurately recorded.

Maybe Cllr S Maxwell was told the information in good faith but didn’t bother to check it out.

Maybe.

Or maybe this is just another example of the manner in which Maltby Town Council (and many other councils) operate.

Incompetency at Westminster. Incompetency at Rotherham Borough Council. Incompetency at Maltby Town Council.

We all need to wake up to the reality of the shambles of our so called “democratic” systems and hold those in authority to account before these political and social inadequencies become the norm.

Or maybe we are too late.
