Two nominations to choose from.
Joe Robinson has given his views on maltbyblogger and rotherham politics.
Maybe Jeanette Mallinder would like to do the same.
Reblogged this on Rotherham Politics and commented:
Democracy gets some exercise!
Jeanette previously stood in the 2011 Hellaby parish elections and lost, despite it being her parish of residence – so it’s going to be interesting to see how well she does in a different town..
And no Labour Nominee?
It’s certainly going to be interesting !
Has Jeanette Mallinder ever been to a Maltby Town Council meeting ?
What are her interests in Maltby if she lives in Hellaby and has already stood to be councillor there ?
Is maltbyblogger missing something about this wanting to represent a place which is not where you live ?
We already have Cllr Lauren Astbury on MTC but representing Hellaby at RMBC, Cllr Jenny Andrews doing the same and Cllr Maggie Godfrey appearing from Wickersley to be on MTC and represent Maltby at RMBC.
With Jeanette Mallinder turning her attention from Hellaby to Maltby, it doesn’t make sense !
Well it does actually, because this is how things usually happen here.
Maltbyblogger predicts that IF Mallinder is elected to MTC that it won’t be long before she decides that she does represent Labour after all.
Looking forward to learning how she could be an asset not only to MTC but to Maltby and it’s people.
She has attended in public on one or two occastions and sent a Christmas card in last year. She’s done a lot of work with care, works with “Carer’s Corner” with appears to have some relation with RMBC (http://www.rotherham.gov.uk/info/200015/carers/1239/carers/9), plus is a co-ordinator for Rotherham Carer’s Forum, and was the Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust public governor for Wentworth Valley (Wickersley, Hellaby, Maltby) in 2008/9 before resigning early in 2010.
It’d be nice to have some words from her though and see what she’s standing for.
I personally believe that you should have to live in a Parish to stand on the council. It should be about representing the residents, not something that would look good on a CV or for personal agenda’s that don’t benefit a particular community as a whole. I think that you will find Anston residents nominating independents who live there for any future elections.
Thanks for the info sheepshaun. Looking for any signs of community involvement and meetings/events attendance whilst waiting for own words from Jeanette Mallinder.
Do you suppose sending a Christmas card to MTC warrants a co option in the event of an election not taking place.
🙂
Welcome to maltbyblogger timawells. I agree with your comments, and still can’t understand how anyone believes that the community wants someone from outside the immediate community to represent them. Similar to the election of Cllr Maggie Godfrey over again !
