Preparing for Elections 2014

United Kingdom local elections, 2014

The 2014 UK local elections will be held on 22 May 2014 if the ‘Local Elections (Ordinary Day of Elections in 2014) Order 2013’ is approved by Parliament.Usually these elections are held on the first Thursday in May, but they will be put back from 1 May to 22 May to coincide with the 2014 European Parliament Elections on that date.

Direct elections are to be held for all 32 London boroughs, all 36 metropolitan boroughs. One third of the seats in all 36 Metropolitan Boroughs up for election, including Rotherham.

RMBC’s web page on forthcoming and pending elections, was last updated on 22nd May 2013  http://www.rotherham.gov.uk/info/362/elections-voting/2202/forthcoming_and_pending_elections

so thanks to Rotherhampolitics.wordpress.com for the following easily accessible  info

No surprise with the candidate for Maltby, as ever. Dismay at Rotherham West’s candidate (how low can the Labour Party go ?)

Hellaby’s selection not known yet. Now, who could it possibly be? Have a feeling it will be a woman, again,  and from short list of Andrews, Astbury, Beaumont and Godfrey ?  Anyone know if Maltby Town Council Chairman Carratt has even bothered applying ? He’s been passed over as a suitable candidate so many times now, that he must surely have lost the will to try.

Welcome posts and comments from any candidates from all parties and none.

Good luck, Maltby and Hellaby. A change has been needed for a long time, but whether it will happen in 2014 is up to those who stand as candidates and us the electorate who have a vote.
