It would seem that this “internal investigation” is going nowhere fast.
When is the external investigation going to begin ?
From The Star
“Labour’s internal investigation into four current and former Rotherham councillors suspended in the wake of the town’s sexual exploitation scandal is still ongoing – with no date known for when it will be completed.
Councillors Gwendoline Russell and Shaukat Ali, as well as the council’s former leader Roger Stone and ex-deputy leader Jahangir Akhtar were suspended in the aftermath of the Jay report, which revealed at least 1,400 children in the town had been abused over a 16-year period.
But more than four months after the suspensions were announced, Labour has not revealed when it expects its internal investigation to be concluded.
A Yorkshire and Humber Labour Party spokesman said: “An NEC investigation, being conducted by the Yorkshire and Humber regional office of the Labour Party, is ongoing and is examining the governance issues raised by the Alexis Jay report.
“Those under investigation remain suspended by the Labour Party.”
When the suspensions were originally announced in September, Labour said large numbers of children had been ‘systematically abused and then let down by those who should have protected them’.
